Arjo-Didessa Dam Project

1. Contract Parties;

Client: Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands

Consultant: Engineering Corporation of Oromia

Contractors: Oromia Construction Corporation (for Project Component I and II)

Jiangxi Water and Hydropower Construction Co. Ltd. (for Project Component II)

2. Location;

The Project area is located at the junction of East Wallega, Buno-Bedele, and Jima Administrative Zones of Oromia National Regional State about 500km from Addis Ababa through Jimma. It falls between latitude 80-30′ 00 “and 80-40′-00″ N and longitude 360.22′-00″ and 360.43′ 00” E.

3.     Weather Condition;

The weather condition of the project area is characterized by seven months of rainfall, from mid-April to mid-October with a virtual dry season from November to March.

The Overall accomplishment of the Arjo-Didessa Main Dam and Its Appurtenant Structures (Lot-I) is at a status of 78.66% financially and 95.66 % Physically.

1. Arjo-Didessa Dam Left Intake Structures Construction Project;

The overall accomplishment of the Left Bank Intake Structures Construction Project by the JIANGXI Water and Hydropower Construction Co. Ltd is at a status of 96.21% financially and 96.62 % Physically.

• Arjo-Didessa Dam Spillway and Right Intake Structures Construction Project;

The overall accomplishment of the spillway and right intake construction is at 9.35% financially and 39.66 % physically.

The average sum of the overall progress status of the Projects implementation since the Commencement Date up to the end of February 2023 with respect to weighted percentage is 86.88% and overall, to-date financial execution is 49.57% completion.
